Creating a schedule for your 1 year old.

Image
When Pumpkin was an infant we just played everything by ear and since she was nursing watched her cues on when to feed her and put her to sleep. But as she got older we found that didn't work as well anymore and ended up with a baby who liked to stay up til nearly 3 am some days. It's then that I delved into research on baby schedules. We found Pumpkin really responded well to knowing exactly what was coming when but I was quickly over whelmed by all of the conflicting information I found online. It takes a long time to find what works for your family and a schedule, especially a sleep schedule, doesn't happen overnight. We found it really important to get set times for everything especially once Pumpkin started eating solid foods and changing to milk. Starting a schedule is easy enough. For us we started with one thing. Sleep. We decided what time we would like Pumpkin to sleep and started moving her bedtime to that time slowly. We did it in half hour intervals and gave ...

Life update, so much has changed!

Image
Holy update Batman, it's been SO long! The first thing I need to do is update you guys on our lives. I can't believe how much has changed since my last blog post. For starters. I had a baby! Our sweet baby girl was born on her daddy's birthday in early September. to protect her privacy we'll be calling her Pumpkin on social media. Not only did I have her but she's almost a year and a half now!  Pumpkin turned one the same day her dad turned 30. We celebrated with a huge party in our backyard. We also moved into a huge 5 bedroom 2.5 bathroom house.... On Halloween last year we finally moved from our tiny two bedroom apartment to a large gorgeous house. It was a long endeavor but totally worth it! Pumpkin has her own room, we have a master bedroom, art room, and guest room. With a whole other unused room available to us. ...In another state! Our beautiful new house took across state lines to the state for Lovers. Mr Pumpkin still works in West Virgini...

July in Review and Life Update

Image
Pregnancy has been a long and exhausting road so far and I've had to put a lot of things on the back burner for my own health and state of mind. This blog has definitely fallen to the wayside and I know that will be a continuing trend after baby's arrival Some how I've been both seemingly doing nothing and constantly busy at the same time. So far our summer has been pretty uneventful but July has been a particularly difficult and busy month for us. We began July with an epic "100 year flood". Our entire town was underwater in the span of 9 hours. We were lucky enough to live uphill from the worst of it and our home was spared  but many were not. We were without power for a week and without usable water for 3 weeks. My husbands job was damaged and he was unemployed for 3 full weeks before the building was repaired enough for him to return. It started with flood warnings on our phones and then the pictures started to pop up on facebook; people on top of their h...

Girl or Boy?

20 week gender reveal! On Monday Hubby and I finally had our big ultrasound appointment. The appointment went extremely well and we learned that baby is not only extremely healthy but 13 oz and in the 96th percentile for the development stage they are at. All of the organs, spine, and head looked perfect and the little heartbeat was at 148. The last month leading up to our appointment was quite eventful and seemed to drag on waiting to find out weather we were having a little boy or girl.  Around 18 weeks I finally started to feel definitive movement from little one every morning when I ate and more and more throughout the day the last two weeks. Now I feel baby every few hours and on the 28th they even had tiny little hiccups! As far as I myself go, the nausea is mostly gone and my biggest symptom right now is back pain. I was diagnosed with scoliosis in middle school and have struggled with mild back pain most of my life. In the last few weeks that pain has t...

Why I Canceled Birchbox

Image
In other news I have recently decided to cancel my Birchbox subscription after only 5 months. The whole reason I joined Birchbox in the first place was to try makeup. At first I got at least one if not a few makeup items each box with some skin and hair care products mixed in. I believe this was mostly to get me to stay because by the end of the 5 months I was no longer receiving any makeup items. The items I was receiving were not relevant to me. The profile customization seems to actually not play any part in what you receive after all. They ask you to specify your hair color (brown) and type (oily) and ask the same for your skin type (combination, acne). I, however, on multiple occasions received products for aging skin or dry skin most of which were unusable on my part and a few of the ones I did try ended up breaking me out. The same went for hair care. I received shampoo and conditioner for blonde hair and curly hair even though I have neither. I did try changing my p...

Update and Big News!

Image
Hello everyone! You may have noticed a sudden absence from this blog on my part recently. This is because I have huge news! We're having a baby! That's right I'm expecting and having just entered my second trimester I thought it was a good time to finally update everyone on my progress. We told all of the important people right away and recently made a public announcement after my 12 week checkup. I've been getting a lot of questions so I thought I'd go over a few of them, answer the ones I'm comfortable with, and reflect on my first trimester. We found out I was pregnant on January 7th with two at home pregnancy tests. We then confirmed the pregnancy with an ultrasound at the doctors later in the week. It was at that point that we started to tell immediate family about the news. Week 6:  We had our doctors appointment to confirm the pregnancy,  Nausea set in, Craving Sprite and cucumbers. Week 7: Nausea continually ...
