Update and Big News!

Hello everyone! You may have noticed a sudden absence from this blog on my part recently. This is because I have huge news!

We're having a baby!

That's right I'm expecting and having just entered my second trimester I thought it was a good time to finally update everyone on my progress.

We told all of the important people right away and recently made a public announcement after my 12 week checkup. I've been getting a lot of questions so I thought I'd go over a few of them, answer the ones I'm comfortable with, and reflect on my first trimester.

We found out I was pregnant on January 7th with two at home pregnancy tests. We then confirmed the pregnancy with an ultrasound at the doctors later in the week. It was at that point that we started to tell immediate family about the news.

Week 6: 

We had our doctors appointment to confirm the pregnancy, 

Nausea set in,

Craving Sprite and cucumbers.

Week 7:

Nausea continually increased, 

started napping during the day,

craving cupcakes and M&Ms cookies.

Week 8: 

2nd ultrasound, received due date, and heard the heartbeat

both napping and nausea increased,

Food aversion rather than cravings, 

discovered baby loves onion rings!(even though mommy doesn't)

Week 9,10,&11:

Food aversions, nausea, and napping continue,

I felt the worst during these few weeks,

When I could eat, craved salads and pancakes, discovered baby is not a fan of dairy.

Week 12:

My Birthday!

Checkup and ultrasound.

Got to see baby wiggle it's fingers and toes, and hear the heartbeat.

Baby was camera shy and already has daddy's nose!

Made official pregnancy announcement on social media, and started buying maternity clothes

Craving ice cream sundaes.

Week 13:

Hello 2nd Trimester!

Started baby registry.
Nausea mostly dissipated but reappears if I wait too long to eat. Smells still bother me and headaches have started.
Craving Chinese food and jelly beans. 

Q: Were you guys trying?

A: I'm sorry but this is an extremely inappropriate thing to ask any couple. 

Q: Are you going to find out the sex?

A: Yes, we plan on finding out as soon as we can.

Q: Are you hoping for a boy or a girl?

A; Neither my husband nor I have a preference. We just want a healthy baby.
Q: Do you have names yet?
A: We have a couple maybes in our heads but will be waiting until we know the sex to choose. We also will not be announcing name choices until baby arrives.
Q: Was anyone disappointed with your news?
A: This is a bit of a weird question but luckily only one person, an old school friend, made a few snarky comments. Everyone else was overjoyed!
Q: Why did you wait so long to announce?
A: Husband and I both felt more comfortable waiting until things were more stable to announce. As I said the important people knew early and we didn't want to have to go around and tell everyone we knew if the worst happened. I also felt better not being bombarded with people while I felt my worst.
