Homemade Hummingbird Food

Image
For the last two years that we have had a humming bird feeder we had been buying store bought, red, humming bird food. Well 2 days ago I finally switched to making my own and let me tell you, we went from having two hummingbirds that would randomly show up, dip there beaks in, and leave to having roughly 6, up to 9, birds fighting over our feeder and even getting comfortable enough to land and hang out on our balcony! I filled the feeder two days ago and it is already 1/3 of the way empty! This recipe is so simple you won't even believe it! Are you ready!? 1/2 cup sugar (white is fine) 2 cups of cold tap water That's it! All you'll want to do is mix the sugar into the water, make sure it's dissolved, and add it to your feeder. This makes two cups but to make more simply add 1/4 cup of sugar to every 1 cup of water. Safety note: Do not use hot tap water as it adds minerals from your pipes to the water that can harm the birds. It also isn't necessary t...

The truth about acne.

I started getting acne around 12 years old. I am now in my 20's and still have acne! Over these many years I have heard a lot of terrible and untrue things about us acne sufferers. Especially now that I have adult acne. Now I can't speak for everyone with acne but these things are all true for me. Things I've heard range from: "Ew you must never shower or wash your face" "Haven't you ever been to a dermatologist" "If you drank more water/lost weight/ate better your acne would go away" People who never or hardly ever have acne are the first to jump to conclusions about another person's face and personal grooming habits. For starters let me just say that just washing your face or showering more often usually doesn't help. On the contrary it will give you dry skin which will make your acne worse! I also hate when people assume I don't care for my skin and that must be why I have acne. On the contrary I have a rigorous clean...

Who am I?

Wondering who I've become and how I got his way. A post from a former/still? goth girl. I see a lot of YouTube videos and posts on other blogs about what "goth" really is and what everyone's opinion is on it and everyone seems to have one! To begin with I grew up in a little town in Iowa and if you dressed differently there you were labeled as goth. Looking back now I realize I actually had more of a "metal head" vibe going. I am in my 20's and just now learning what goth really is. It seems to mostly be about the music you listen to and the movies you watch, those sorts of things.  Right around the time I turned 20 I started to shy away from my black clothes and become more well colorful I suppose. I think the main reason was because I had begun to gain weight and to this day I have a really hard time finding plus sized "alternative clothing". Once I had gotten to Colorado I started working at an Old Navy and started buying their clo...
