November's Birchbox 2015 Review

This month's theme was:

Feeling Fancy

November's theme was centered around dressing up for the holiday's and the box design has been my absolute favorite so far.

Catherine Malandrino Style de paris - retail $80
This was a nice floraly type scent with a bit of a woodsy smell in it as well. I enjoyed it but it's not my favorite perfume. I think it's nice to throw in my purse for if I forget to spritz myself with something before leaving the house. The one downside is it does not seem to last all day.

Temple Spa La La Lagoon Aromatic Bath and Shower Gel - retail $18
The smell of this as soon as I opened the lid was horrendous and I didn't even use it. It was a very overpowering scent and smells more like a mens cologne than a shower gel. This was passed on to family.

Make Face Gloss - retail $25
This product was another disappointment for me. I wasn't exactly even sure what this was at first. I originally thought it was a moisturizer but it's extremely sticky and doesn't rub in well. It's more like a lip gloss than anything else. I then thought I'd try it over my makeup for a bit of a dewy look on my cheekbones and cupids bow but it caked my makeup and never really dried. My hair got stuck in it and it was just a mess.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle - retail $21.95
This product was the surprise redeeming product for this box! I have fine yet thick hair and an oily scalp. I usually shampoo and condition in the shower and then set to the long task of brushing all the tangles out of my hair. I recently even cut my hair shorter because of all the tangles. I shampooed in the shower as usual and when I got out spritzed this into my wet hair. I rubbed it through my strands with my fingers and then set to brushing and it was like a miracle, the brush just glided straight through my hair with no catches or tangles! The smell is nice but, gladly for me, doesn't stay all day and it didn't leave any build up or make my hair look dirty. I am definitely purchasing a full size of this when I run out!

LOC complete collection for lips - retail $18
I was so excited for this lipstick. I'm always on the hunt for a nice berry shade for the fall but this was just another let down. I received the shade Glam Life but instead of being the nice purple it shows on the packaging it's more of wine red color. It's also very streaky, This lipstick is somehow thick and thin at the same time. It seems to gather in certain places where it clumps but stretches out too thin in others. It also doesn't dry well so a 2nd coat only moves around the first coat and this stuff ends up every where. Maybe the other colors are better but don't get anything near your face with this on unless you want lipstick all over it. I expected better from a site and youtuber who both specialize in makeup. This is the quality I would expect from a drugstore lipstick and I think they either need to lower the price or improve the formula to make it worth it.

This box gets a 4 star rating for me just because of the box design and the good products, luckily, outweigh the bad ones. This was the first box I was actually looking forward to trying each product but as usual there were a lot of disappointments in here. My favorite product was definitely the Beauty Protector Protect and Detangle. Join Birchbox now for $5 off your first box!
